He completed his general surgery training at Methodist Dallas Medical Center before pursuing advanced microsurgery research at the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery at UT Southwestern. He then completed a Fellowship in Plastic Surgery at the University of Illinois/Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
